From The Principal

Henry Wickham, Headmaster of Elmhurst SchoolAt Elmhurst, we are proud to have been educating boys to the highest standards for over 140 years.

I am often asked: "What do Elmhurst boys have that is special?"

First of all, they achieve good results. In their academic work - as you can see elsewhere on our website - but also in their music, sport, drama, art and a huge variety of other activities. Boys at Elmhurst get a vast array of opportunities, and we teach and encourage them to take full advantage. That way they can achieve to the best of their ability and find out what they're good at. How many times have we heard parents say they never knew their son was good at cricket.or acting.or the violin!

Secondly, they learn to be good citizens. They learn about responsibility and duty, about helping others, showing good manners and being respectful and supportive to their parents and those around them. They get opportunities to speak in public and be confident in front of an audience. I think we all know how important these skills are for boys growing up in the world today.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, they have fun! Elmhurst is a warm, friendly, family environment. We encourage the boys to enjoy their school days - because that way they will achieve of their very best and appreciate the opportunities they are given.

Elmhurst is a wonderful school - but don't just take my word for it, come and visit us and see for yourself. We'll be delighted to welcome you.
