Reception share their knowledge on lifecycles

Elmhurst School for Boys

11th June 2015

This term, Reception have been focusing on the topic of ‘Nature’. As part of our topic, Reception have enjoyed learning about the lifecycles of different animals including frogs, ducks and butterflies.

This week, Reception performed an assembly to Lower School and their families, to share what they have learnt about lifecycles. They did a fantastic job at saying their lines and singing a song about the butterfly lifecycle.

This week, we welcomed the arrival of our very own caterpillars. The boys are very excited to watch the caterpillars grow and turn into butterflies. We are all hoping to be able to witness the caterpillars hatch into beautiful butterflies.

In two weeks’ time Reception will be visiting Chessington Zoo to consolidate this topic. They will have a workshop on habitats and will get the chance to see a butterfly enclosure and the cocoons that they have hatched from.
