The Spelling Duel Continues in Year 5

Elmhurst School for Boys

17th October 2014

The spelling duel between 5H and 5P is ridiculously close as we progress towards the massive prize (big bag of Haribos!). Last week we stood at 33 points to 5H and 35 points to 5P however 5P have now stretched their lead to 6 points with 49 vs 43. Notable performances this term include Maliq, Neel and Sidharth Who have only dropped 1 mark during the term.

5H have started a new guided reading activity with groups reading at the same time but pupils taking the role of ‘teacher’ leading each groups exploration of the text. The new Project X series of reading books are proving to be a big hit – interesting topics and contemporary graphics.

After half-term, the boys can look forward to lots of work on fractions in maths along with properties of 3D shapes and co-ordinates in the first then all four quadrants.
