Year 2 learn about Fractions and Materials

Elmhurst School for Boys

29th January 2016 | Key Stage 1

Year 2 boys have been very busy this week.

In maths we learnt all about fractions. As a treat for working super hard we got to make fraction pizzas. We decided what fraction of the pizza would have cheese, what fraction of the pizza would have mushroom etc. It was so much fun! We even got to eat the pizzas after we made them…YUMMY!

In science we have been learning all about materials. We did one experiment to see what material would make the best tea bags – we tested all sorts of materials, including foil, cotton, paper. Miss Kasza-Martin even tasted some of the tea after we made it…she said it was the best cuppa she has ever had (but not the tea using the foil – that was just warm water!).
