Year 5 Science - Forces

Elmhurst School for Boys

14th December 2015 | Key Stage 2

Year 5 have been learning how simple machines make work easier as part of the topic ‘Feel the Force’. The boys have been working with K’Nex kits to investigate how gears work. They have found out that a gear is a wheel with teeth, sometimes called a cog. They have learnt that different size gears, working together can change the energy you put in and the speed you produce. The K’nex kits provide a good opportunity for the boys to develop their cognitive thinking and visual spatial skills.
