Elmhurst School for Boys

18th March 2016 | Little Elms Blog

In Little Elms, to finish off this busy Spring Term, we have been learning about the spring and summer seasons. In our role play area, the igloo has melted and a lovely Flower Shop has popped up. The boys have been very busy creating flowers, bouquets and corsages to sell to perspective buyers. This shop has the boys using problem solving and writing skills independently, as well as further developing their personal and social abilities.

We have been focusing this week on a Little Elms favourite, ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. It is a lovely book that combines counting, days of the week and understanding of the world. In Forest School we made a scrapbook, based around the book. We went on a nature walk collecting leaves, feathers, flowers and something special for the caterpillar. When we got back to base camp, each boy was given their own scrap book and they stuck in the items they found. They really enjoyed the combination of exploration and creativity.

Next week we will throw ourselves into all things Easter. I hope everyone has a lovely Easter break. I can’t believe the boys are reaching their final term in Little Elms.
