Next Steps for the boys in Little Elms

Elmhurst School for Boys

9th March 2017 | Early Years

Each Half Term we set Next Steps for the boys in Little Elms. Next Step are decided upon by closely observing each boy in the class and deciding what it is they really need to achieve to create a well rounded boy who is confident and happy. A boy able to learn to question, analyse and appreciate the world around him.

Once the boys Next Steps are achieved we have a little Graduation Ceremony so they can celebrate their achievements. I begin by removing their leaves from the Next Step tree and reading out their Next Step. I then explain how they achieved it and we all give a big cheer and clap. The boys then walk over to our big tree in the Expressive Arts Area and they put their leaf on the tree, symbolizing their achievement. It is always difficult to make 3 and 4 year olds accountable for their learning. Being a Reflective Learner is what Elmhurst is all about and learning these skills is essential for the future success of every boy at Elmhurst.
