Key Stage 2
Gardening Club is an opportunity to have fun outside while learning new skills, knowledge and an appreciation of our amazing natural world.
At the beginning of each session, we have a short meeting walking around the school grounds, identifying tasks and maintenance, ensuring safe use of equipment as well as discussing new initiatives suggested by the boys. We then set to work, with the boys choosing activities that stimulate their interests.
A typical session in February, will include preparing the soil which may involve clearing leaves and composting them, digging (a very popular pastime), pruning, planting. building bird nests and refilling the bird feeders, but perhaps the most exciting time of the year is when we harvest and eat our own produce at the end of the summer!
We have an amazing parent working with us at the moment and we welcome any new volunteers from our Elmhurst Community. Please let Mrs Mawanda know if your are interested. Volunteers require no formal gardening experience, just a sense of fun and enthusiasm in inspiring the next generation of horticulturists.
