Year 1 Art : ‘The Golden Fish’

Elmhurst School for Boys

2nd February 2017 | Key Stage 1

In Art lessons, Year 1 have been busy exploring Africa. So far this term they have created watercolour paintings of animals native to Madagascar, in the style of the artist Miroco Machiko; Table Mountain paintings in the colourful style of The Fauvists and the cichlids from lake Malawi in the style of Paul Klee’s “The Golden Fish”.

Here you can see the prints the boys have made after studying pictures of Paul Klee’s iconic painting. They thoroughly enjoyed this activity in which they used two different printing methods (polyboard and potato printing) and a range of materials (block printing ink, rollers, polyboard and sweet potatoes).
