Benchball Match - Elmhurst vs Old Palace

Elmhurst School for Boys

10th March 2017 | Key Stage 2

On March 2nd, Year 4 went to Ola Palace to play benchball match. As soon as we got there, we went straight to the main hall and started setting ourselves up. While we were setting up, Mr Kent and the Old Palace PE teacher, Mrs Coster (Lucas’ mum), explained the rules. At this little tournament, we did a lot of different versions of benchball, like when you get hit and you have to go to the bench on the opponent’s side, you cannot be freed. You are, however, allowed to get people on the other side from the bench. As soon as we started, it was total chaos. Everyone was screaming and shouting. I thought I went deaf! Eventually, we got over the noise and started to really get into the game. It was quite intense but we picked ourselves up and smashed them within 1 or 2 minutes.

We played a series of games after that, all of which had different rules. We won all of them apart from one, which was the last. We were all a bit tired by then so I guess you can’t really blame us. We got split into our houses after that and all houses got a few Old Palace girls so it was all equal. We played a mini tournament in our houses. At the end the results were: Scott came first, Anderson second, Peachell third and Squire last. It ended a very good day as we set off back to Elmhurst.
