Democracy at work: School Council Election Results

One of Super Citizen's Super Powers is  'I can respect and celebrate British Values'  and this week we have been focusing on 'Democracy' in our Assemblies. All boys in Years 1 to 6 were invited to stand this year in the School Council Elections for a chance to be elected as a 'School Council Representative' for their class (candidates cannot serve two consecutive years). A School Council Representative's responsibilities are many, including representing their class by listening to their ideas and presenting them, but they also take on the role as consultants for the staff.  The role of School Council Representative is an essential part of our life at Elmhurst. Our aims are:

  • To help make school life better for everyone
  • To care for everyone in our school community
  • To give pupils a voice and a way of helping to make decisions and put forward ideas in school

The candidates made a short speech to their fellow classmates and then it was down to them to vote for who they felt was the best candidate. After much deliberation, I am proud to introduce this years newly elected 2019/20 School Council Representatives:

  • 6C Rishi Banerjee and Narein Mohan
  • 6V Tom Coombs
  • 5N Romil Rathore
  • 5O Javahn Wood
  • 4C Aren Ozen
  • 4N Taran Jeyanandhan
  • 3K Aaron Kassam and Aaran Chitalia
  • 2P Noah Bennett and Liam Nai
  • 1C/D Sochimaechi Ihezue and William Horton

And this years Head Boys are: Mikaeel Kassam and Joshua Allen

Good luck to our new representatives!

- Mrs Mawanda
