One of Super Citizen's Super Powers is 'I can respect and celebrate British Values' and this week we have been focusing on 'Democracy' in our Assemblies. All boys in Years 1 to 6 were invited to stand this year in the School Council Elections for a chance to be elected as a 'School Council Representative' for their class (candidates cannot serve two consecutive years). A School Council Representative's responsibilities are many, including representing their class by listening to their ideas and presenting them, but they also take on the role as consultants for the staff. The role of School Council Representative is an essential part of our life at Elmhurst. Our aims are:
The candidates made a short speech to their fellow classmates and then it was down to them to vote for who they felt was the best candidate. After much deliberation, I am proud to introduce this years newly elected 2019/20 School Council Representatives:
