20th October 2017 | Forest School
We have had a wonderful start to the year at Forest School with Reception. The Choo-Choo fairies have been leaving us letters with lots of different challenges...making homes for the fairies using sticks and leaves, curing Sneeze the dragon with mud medicine, making dragon sparks using fire-steels and of course clearing the woods of dragon breath! We have been studying Autumn and investigating leaves - their colours, the different types and how they eventually change into mud. We have also been learning about different woodland animals and have discovered that if we are really quiet they will come out of their hiding places. This week, we read Owl Babies and looked at some real nests and then built our own.
Last week, we had a picnic in the Woods with our Mums and Dads and did lots of creative activities related to Stick Man. It was wonderful to see the level of parental involvement and to have so many parents attending. Thank you for coming! Henrik's Mummy wrote:
"I was very impressed with how enthusiastic and respectful towards the environment and their colleagues the children were. The way they are taught the forest rules is very friendly and the children love to follow them. I wish I could attend every Wednesday and it would be great if they could continue going every week. Me and Henrik think Forest School is one of the highlights of the school week."
Thank you for your feedback. If you have not already and would like to do so, we would love to hear what you thought of the day. Please fill in the feedback form here.
