Elmhurst Holiday Club proves popular with pupils

Elmhurst School for Boys

22nd November 2013

Mr and Mrs Clarke were thrilled to welcome pupils to our first Holiday club, during the Autumn half term break.

Approximately 16 boys attended on each day of the week and many developed new friendships across different year groups.  Teamwork and laughter were in abundance as the boys played sports, played music, games, danced, baked, bowled, swam, slid, and dived head-first into Elmhurst Holiday Club.

Purav and Aman tell us about their time at Holiday Club:

During the second week of the half-term holidays, I was booked into the first ever Holiday Club hosted by Mr and Mrs Clarke. A lot of other pupils from Elmhurst came as well. I was very excited and enthusiastic as I eagerly stepped out of my home.

When I entered Elmhurst, I was flabbergasted! The hall looked simply wonderful; it had a table tennis table, games such as Operation and Tetris Link, drawing and even a Nintendo Wii! Mr Clarke greeted me and told me to get started and have some fun!

The thrilling week that followed was action-packed and filled with fun. On the first day, we went to the Beckenham Pavilion Leisure Centre for a swimming outing. My friends and I splashed each other with water and went on slides. The next day, we stayed at school and did some exciting activities such as a Treasure Hunt, hockey, football and a team quiz!

On Wednesday, we took a trip to the cinema and watched the new movie ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2’ and ate popcorn. Thursday was 31st October and of course was Halloween, so we had to dress up in spooky costumes (I dressed up as a bat) and we spent the whole morning baking cakes and biscuits and topping pizzas – we ate this for lunch and had a big Halloween Party. On Friday Mr and Mrs Clarke took us to Tenpin where we bowled quite well. We were also given a burger meal and a drink.

At the end of every day, Mrs Clarke would always play a Drama game with us. I thoroughly enjoyed the first Elmhurst Holiday Club and I really cannot wait for the next Holiday club to commence!

Last half-term holiday, we had an Elmhurst Holiday Club. It was ecstatic, hours of fun. It included fun games and amazing days out. We had a trip to the Bromley pavilion, a day at the big screens and a great tenpin bowling day.

Great games were set up like table tennis and the Wii. We also used the hall’s projector to watch great movies. There’s colouring, board games and so much more. I went for three days; Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I had so much fun and I’m coming again because…

This winter, we’re doing it again! We’ll be going ice skating, having a gingerbread house making competition and going to the zoo. We’re really excited and hope you can make it!!!
