Elmhurst held its 29th annual House Swimming Gala on Friday 16th May. It was held at Trinity School, with over 60 boys from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 taking part.
There were medals for coming first, second and third, as well as the opportunity to earn points for your House. Some races even had cups and shields.
Two school records were broken: Oliver W in Year 3 broke a record set in 1992 by swimming 25m front crawl in 18.33 seconds and Cameron L in Year 5 broke a record set in 1994 by swimming 25m breaststroke in 20.62 seconds. Cameron also came close to breaking a few other records; I’m sure next year he will be successful!
The highlight of the evening was the good natured staff/parents/boys relay. Congratulations to the staff team: Mr Harrington/butterfly, Mr Kelly/backstroke and Mr Wilks/breaststroke.
