Erica and Olivia visit Elmhurst School

This week, the boys were visited by some very special guests. Erica and Olivia from Night Owls - a company dedicated to the preservation of the owls' natural habitat - came in to talk to the boys. They brought with them 5 species of owl and they even carried out a flying display for us to see. The boys saw first-hand how owls fly incredibly low to the ground and that they fly almost silently. They also discussed what they eat, how they hunt and their natural habitat - specifically how to preserve these habitats by recycling their rubbish. Some lucky pupils also had the opportunity to hold the owls and have them land on their arms as well.

This inspired learning around the school, and children in our microGeeks Physical Computing and Robotics club even made mechanical owls which were controlled via a tablet - very clever indeed! The boys had their photographs taken with the owls too, and should you wish, these will be available to purchase from the school office in the next week or so.
