Europe Day celebrations

Elmhurst School for Boys

27th March 2014

Friday 21st March was Europe Day at Elmhurst. The day started with assembly where we learnt how to say 'Good Morning' in lots of different European languages. Then Madame Hargreaves told us all about the French cuisine we would be tasting at lunchtime, including yummy French onion soup and Tarte au Limon. Her glamorous assistant Miss Prior also showed us pictures of incredible festivals in France and Spain.

In the afternoon, the Lower School boys rotated around various activities including Venetian mask making with Miss Dawson and Miss Boniferro, Greek salad making with Miss Wilks, Scottish dancing with Mrs Mawanda, flamenco dancing with Mrs Heath-Pampin (Orson and Lucas's Mum) and clay reindeer making with Mrs Prior and Mrs West.  Meanwhile, in the Upper School the boys were challenged to recognise football kits, landmarks, country outlines and other European trivia.

The afternoon culminated in a fantastic assembly led by Mr Kelly and Years 3 and 4 in which the boys and their parents learned all about different holiday destinations in Europe, as well as information about volcanos and facts about Norway. After all of that everyone was hungry, just in time for all the delicious European food that the parents brought in to share with everyone.

It was a fantastic afternoon and the boys were able to bring all of their learning about the topic of Europe to life. Thank you to all the staff and parents who made the day possible.
