IT Co-ordinators from schools across the Bellevue Education group benefited from a recent conference to share existing practices and to develop ideas for future schemes of work.
Led by Nick Copestick (Headmaster at Edenhurst Preparatory School) and Sam Habgood (Head at Norfolk House School) the meeting focused on the new strands to the Computing curriculum and how we can ensure we plan for the highest expectations to meet the needs of all pupils, especially in being digital learners, developing coding and programming skills and being safe in their technology use and online. There was also a focus on the benefits of technologies such as tablets and systems such as Google Docs, as platforms for innovative teaching, as well as defining a programme of development to make Computing and IT a focus in all Bellevue Schools.
Ms Habgood said, “I thought it was extremely beneficial to have met with all the Heads of IT as it was a great opportunity to put in motion the start of what promises to be an exciting collaboration that will benefit the pupils enormously . Through seeing what can be achieved in other schools, everyone who attended was able to take something away from the day, to develop an action plan for their school.”
“It was very good to be able to meet with IT Co-ordinators for each of the UK schools, to share ideas and to hear about what is being delivered. There was some great expertise around the table and idea discussed, which we look forward to implementing” said Mr Copestick.
Similar, subject-focused group meetings will continue throughout the Autumn term, allowing Subject Leaders in English, Maths and Science, as well as Pastoral Leaders, to share ideas and resources, and to develop new teaching frameworks.
