Mud! Mud! Glorious mud!
What a wonderful start we have had to Forest School this term! Last term Year 3 dug a rather large mud hole (almost to Australia!) which filled up with rain, was modified by Year 5 and then turned into mud soup by Reception and Little Elms this Wednesday! This caused much excitement and there was a lot of experimenting and exploration of the texture, squelching, mixing, slipping and sliding! We have never come back so muddy and exhilarated! The therapeutic qualities of mud are definitely underestimated.
Reception and Little Elms have been focussing on birds in Winter and built some amazingly creative nests; some with back doors and front doors; others for enormous imaginary birds! They also made some yummy bird cakes which will be essential over the coming days as it gets colder and the birds cannot dig up worms from the frozen ground!
As part of Forest School, Little Elms and Reception will be taking part in the ‘RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch’ on the 29th January where we will be counting the birds in the playground for an hour. If you would like to do this at home on 30th/ 31st January then sign up now https://ww2.rspb.org.uk/discoverandenjoynature/discoverandlearn/birdwatch/?gclid=COL08onGq8oCFYyRGwodWqkETA
