Little Elms enjoy a week with the bears

Elmhurst School for Boys

18th September 2015 | Early Years

There have been bears hiding in the playground, snakes in the grass and plenty of porridge in Little Elms this week! We explored our emotions and feelings when we went on a 'Bear Hunt' around the playground...through the mud, the grass and into the cave but thank goodness the bear (that Mrs Mawanda had hidden earlier) had shrunk so we did not have to be scared! We built a cave in the classroom to protect us from the bears and concentrated very hard on our fine motor skills, pegging up the material. Today we even scared the bears with the drums in music, by making loud and soft sounds.

The Bear theme continued when we explored language, matching, size and numbers through our dramatisation of the Three Bears. Then we made porridge together, although we didn't actually eat it as it was magic porridge made with glitter! We worked together mixing, filling and pouring, and sharing the containers. After that we had a lot of scrubbing and washing up to do. What a fun week!
