17th October 2019 | Forest School
Reception had a fun-filled day at Forest School, showing off their newly learned skills to their parents who kindly joined us for the afternoon. We enjoyed our packed lunches together under the sheltering Chestnut trees and welcomed parents to the campsite. Ready and fuelled with filled bellies, we set off on an adventure into the depths of the woods on our exciting bear hunt.
This was not an easy hunt at all as we had to go down and up hills; around the badger holes and through the trees! By the end of our hunt, we had all found our very own little Elmhurst School Bear. When we got back to camp, we got straight to work in the mud kitchen, finding insects on the forest floor and searching for chestnuts. Whilst we were exploring, our Parents were hard at work building shelters around the campsite.
The day was ended with a gathering around the campfire, where we shared some toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate and most importantly our favourite stories from the afternoon. It was such a special opportunity to share the day with our parents and show them how much Forest School means to us. We had so much fun and were covered in mud by the end, we can’t wait for our next adventure to begin!
