Elmhurst School for Boys

6th May 2016 | Sport

A Team: Oliver Wilcox, Henry Farquharson (capt.), Oscar Sweeney, Andrew Dowsett, Maliq Attah, Tobias Aiyeola, Temu Liburd-Appiah

B Team: Neo Blair-Ford, Emmanuel Akinrinade, Levi McKenzie, Joseph Unumuemu, Aarush Wangoo, Neel Patel, Aqeel Khan, Seby Oshisanya

This year the U11 A and B teams participated in the Oakwood Football Festival. The weather was fantastic for the closing event of the Football season. 15 boys went with Mr Padfield and Mr Endersby to the Warlingham Sports Club venue to join 6 other schools in the A team event and 5 in the B team pool.

The A team started slowly losing their opening game against Oliver House, whereas the B team in contrast, won 2-0 with Neel and Aqeel scoring the goals. The A team went on to draw their second game against Ealham House 1-1 with Temu scoring the goal. The B team continued there excellent start with 2 more wins beating Oliver House 1-0 and Laleham Lea 8-0 with Neel, Aqeel and Aarush scoring all of the goals between them. The A team improved their performances with wins against Caterham 1-0, Laleham Lea 5-1, Oakwood 2-0 and St. David’s 1-0. Andrew, Temu, Tobias and Maliq scored all the goals with Maliq scoring a notable hat-trick against Laleham Lea.

Overall, I was delighted with the performances of both teams and all of the boys should be proud of their silver medals. St. David’s won the B Team League and Oakwood won the A Team League. A few of the younger boys who played in this tournament will have gained a great deal of experience in readiness for next season.
