25th November 2016 | Key Stage 2
On Saturday 19th November, the Under 9 A & B Football teams participated in the Royal Russell Football Tournament. Both teams were unbeaten in the first round. The A team drew 0-0 with Priory A team and the B team beat the Royal Russell B’s 1-2.
Both teams played well in the consequent rounds with the B team winning their pool with convincing wins against Priory Prep and Royal Russell C team. The A’s were not quite as successful but lost their other games by small margins to finish 4th in their pool.
The B team went on to win the 1st and 2nd playoff against Pointers in a closely fought battle, to take the B Team title. The A team lost their 3rd and 4th playoff in the A competition but had plenty of chances to score.
Notable performances came from Alan M who was playing for the first time in the A team and from Noah B-C and Lucas C who both scored important goals in the B team competition. Well done to all of the boys in the B team for winning their competition. The A team players played well but learnt a valuable lesson in how small margins can make a huge difference in a tournament situation.
