Very Busy Autumn term for Elmhurst Sports

Elmhurst School for Boys

9th December 2016 | Key Stage 1

The Autumn term has again been very busy for all of the boys and staff involved in Elmhurst School sport. We have had fixtures and galas for all ages in Football, Basketball, Cross Country and Swimming. In Football the U8’s have had A & B fixtures and a tournament at Royal Russell. The U9’s A & B teams have enjoyed two tournaments at Royal Russell and Caterham Prep. School, with the B team winning their side of the tournament, at Royal Russell. The A team also played a very strong Henriette Le Forestier team. Some Year 3 boys have also been part of the U9 season, helping with the development of the team performance. The U10 A & B teams enjoyed a fixture with Royal Russell and a number of the Year 5 boys have been involved in U11 fixtures.

The U11 squad has enjoyed a number of friendly, Croydon League and Cup games. The A, B and C teams have enjoyed 2 fixtures each with Royal Russell and Caterham Prep. School. Unfortunately, the Caterham Prep. School U11 Tournament was cancelled due to torrential rain. In the League, the U11’s have played some excellent teams and struggled without our injured striker, Temu L-A. They achieved their first point from three matches in the last game of this term against Park Hill with a 0-0 draw. They also missed Temu in the ISA 5-a-side tournament where they were knocked out in the quarter finals.

Years 1-6 enjoyed performing in the local school’s Cross-Country events in Lloyd Park and the Swim Squad participated in the Aquathon and the ISA London South Regional Championships.

The U11 Basketball team have played in the ISA London South Regional Tournament and were beaten in the quarter final. The A & B teams also enjoyed a close match with Royal Russell.

Well done to all of the performers the very best for the Spring term where there will be many more opportunities to represent Elmhurst School, with pride.

Mr Padfield
Head of Sport
