Year 1 take a tour of Croydon

Elmhurst School for Boys

30th September 2016 | Key Stage 1

Last Friday, Year 1 went on a minibus tour around Croydon. We took them out as part of our Topic work, where we are looking at our local area and making comparisons. It is important for the children to experience first-hand that Croydon is an area of many differences, both geographically and historically. We have found that taking the children off site makes the learning ‘real’ and helps embed knowledge. The children certainly enjoyed themselves, identifying all the different landmarks they have been given to spot from the minibus.

Read some of Year 1's comments about the trip:

Arjun-We had to find our pictures when we were in the minibus.

Aren- I saw the aeroplane.
