Year 2 Forest School Adventures

Elmhurst School for Boys

22nd April 2016 | Forest School

Year 2 had their last Forest School session this week and enjoyed the most beautiful weather. The bluebells are in full bloom and the birds have returned! This term's topic is Australasia and Year 2 have been studying the Aborigines. To start the session we used natural materials to make Aborigine symbols. Rishi told us all about their history and how they were later disguised with dots to stop the enemy reading them. We moved onto using mud to make dot paintings on paper and fabric. We experimented using various natural materials as well as our hands for painting. We then had lots of time to explore our own ideas and practice the Elmhurst Forest School Motto of 'TRUST, RESPECT AND TEAMWORK' . The Warrior challenge was created with various ropes tied between the trees, bows and arrows were made, the fire was lit and we made some yummy homemade bread on cooking sticks. What a great day!
