15th June 2018 | Key Stage 2
Croydon High recently invited Year 3 boys from Elmhurst to a Tech Afternoon with the Year 3 girls, to try out some new technology. The girls were split into three groups and each group did a different activity with the boys.
The first group worked on building circuits using 'Little Bits' and some groups successfully managed to make a fully functional doorbell with volume control. The second group had the challenging task of writing an algorithm in Python to make text and images appear on the BBC Micro:bit.
The third group played a Girls vs Boys Robotics Tournament where each team had to control the robot to pick up a coloured brick and shoot a 'goal' to get a point. The boys team were keen on a rematch as their confidence in controlling the robot increased, but we unfortunately ran short of time and it was time for the boys to go back. Well done to both teams.
The girls and boys had a fantastic afternoon. They were all so well behaved and the willingness to work collaboratively and help each other was very evident.
