Year 3 Study Rocks and Soils

Elmhurst School for Boys

26th September 2014

Year 3 are studying rocks and soils this half term, and for homework have already produced some interesting studies of rock in their local area. Several boys found interesting rocks in their own garden, for example Shaan found rocks that reminded him of jewels and dino eggs. Ethan C looked at the wonderful rockery in Coombe Wood, and Stanley found out about the different origins of rocks that we will be learning about over the next few weeks; sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rocks.

We have also been out in the playground looking at the materials that have been used in our buildings, and at how they have weathered over the years.
