Year 3 visit Lullingstone Roman Villa

Elmhurst School for Boys

23rd May 2014

On 20th May, Year 3 enjoyed a visit to Lullingstone Roman Villa. Following their trip, the boys were each asked to write a report.

Read extracts from some of the boys’ reports:

Akbar:
“On 20th May Year 3 went to Lullingstone Roman Villa. When we arrived we went inside and we saw the Roman Villa. The walls have broken down but you can still see the rooms.

There was a beautiful and colourful mosaic. After, we watched an interesting non-fiction movie about the Romans. Then we read all the information that was there. Also you could do some activities.

I saw a real Roman’s skeleton and a real old fashioned dog skeleton. It was so cool!”

Krishna:
“Year 3 went down to Lullingstone Roman Villa in Kent.

I learned that some years ago the Roman Villa was discovered. The Roman Villa kept on changing. Also I learnt that the villa now in 2014 is quite small, but before it was big.”

Eyilayo:
“I learnt that when a Roman pan handle gets hot, it rusts. If you cook from a Roman frying pan it won’t work. I learnt that Kent is nearer to Brighton than Croydon.

I would recommend it to my grandma, granddad, Matthew in 3C, Alair in 3C, Isaiah in 3C, Krishna in 3C, Tobi in 3C, Joshua in 3C and Temu in 3C, and my cousins in Nigeria and Canada.”

Isaiah:
“On 20th May 2014, Year 3 went to Lullingstone Roman Villa. What I learned is it’s very hard to live in the Roman time, because it would take hard work to fight against other tribes.

I’ll recommend it to you because you’ll learn more about Romans.”

Some of the boys also drew pictures of the things that they saw at the Roman Villa.
