Year 3’s Forest School Adventures

Elmhurst School for Boys

6th December 2013

This term, Year 3 have explored lots of different themes in their Forest School sessions, including organising their own Woodland Olympics.

The boys have been reflecting on the Forest School activities that they have enjoyed the most.

“I liked when we had the marshmallows, hot chocolate, building dens and making the Olympics plus getting buried under the leaves!” Oscar

“I liked exploring and doing lots of different activities like tree climbing, javelin and long jump. We learnt about all the different kind of leaves. One of them is holly.” Joseph

“I liked the bit when we made dens for the mysterious little hobbins in the woods and I like hot chocolate and marshmallows as well.” Faizal

“I liked the swinging from the tree and I loved throwing leaves at Kobby and I liked squelching in the mud and I really liked eating marshmallows and hot chocolate.” Shanjay

“I liked whittling the bark off cooking sticks. I learnt how to fold a tarpaulin. Running down the steep hills was great – it felt really nice!” Cameron

“I liked exploring Forest School and having hot chocolate and marshmallows. We found conkers and sweet chestnuts.” Mustafa

“At forest school we went for a walk. On the walk we discovered all kinds of leaves. I saw a birch tree, oak tree, beech tree and an evergreen tree. All of the leaves in the forest (except evergreen leaves) were all orange, yellow, brown and red. We made up something called ‘The Elmhurst Challenge’. We had to walk on a tree that had fell over. Then we went back to base. We made a path that leads to our shelter. We were making the shelter bigger as well. Finally we made a fire and roasted some marshmallows  with hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was scrumptious. I had a nice, enjoyable time at forest school.” Matthew
