Year 6 in Saint-Omer, France

Year 6 returned from yet another successful trip to France, exhausted by the early start and full of French delicacies! Read some comments from Year 6 about the trip:

"When we got to the Eurotunnel we saw lots of sports cars. There was a 24-hour race called Le Mans. We ate our breakfast in the tunnel."

"When we arrived in Saint-Omer, we got into groups and went to the charcuterie first. We bought: saucisson and other meats. J’adore la viande! After that we went to the boulangerie to buy our baguettes and finally to the épicerie to get fromage et les fruits for our big picnic in the park. My favourite thing was when we tucked into our demie baguette. Madame Hargreaves set out all the fillings like a Subway station."

"We went to a cathedral called Notre Dame Des Miracles. The architecture was gothic and there was a Saint especially for people that have difficulty walking. There are only seven astrological clocks in the whole world and we were able to see one of them! There were colourful stained-glass windows and a painting by Reubens which was Jesus being taken off the cross. You could light some candles for remembrance. I liked looking at the massive organ which had over 3000 pipes! It is surprising to see an organ that large."

"When we went to the Café de France, we started writing postcards and ordered syrups. I had cerise flavour with lemonade. Morgan’s Mum gave us brownies and we had a pain au chocolat."

“My favourite part was the cathedral. It was very inspiring.” (Reuben)

“I loved our day in France. It was amazing!” (James)

“I think I would like to live in France.” (Ayub)
