Year 6 visit Saint Omer in France

Our annual French trip to Saint Omer was another sunny success! Read a write up from some of the boys about their trip:

On Friday 11th May, we went to Saint Omer by minibus and came off at Folkestone. Next we had a long journey on the minibus to the Eurotunnel. Whilst we were in the Eurotunnel, we were able to get out of the bus and eat our breakfast and 25 minutes later we finally arrived in France!

We parked in a French car park and set off in our groups. First, we went to the the boulangerie to order our baguettes, then the boucherie and the Epicerie shop. Once we had bought all of our ingredients we had a picnic in the local park. While the teachers were setting up, some people played cricket and the rest played a ball game called Boules.

After that, the picnic was ready and we brought our baguettes to choose any fillings we liked. When that was over we headed off to the Cathedral which was amazing to look at. The stained glass windows were wonderful. I found out that it was called miraculous, because people's prayers were answered. After we had looked around, we went to the Cafe de France to order our drinks, in French of course. There were 20 different syrups you could choose from! Once you had chosen your syrup, you added lemonade or water. It was delicious! Then we wrote postcards to send home.

After that we jumped on the bus and headed to Calais. Once we arrived at Calais we went through Border Control and had to show our passports. Then we jumped on the train back to school. All of us had a great day. We were tired and but happy in the end!
