Life in Reception

Elmhurst School for Boys

1st February 2018

Reception have recently enjoyed practicing ‘ordering familiar events’ by making jam sandwiches. The boys shared their ideas and worked together as a team to write the instructions to help them make their sandwiches. The boys then followed the instructions and made their sandwiches independently.

Tied in to their transport topic this half term, Reception have also been making their own types of transport using a variety of materials. They have planned their model, selected the appropriate resources and adapted their work where necessary. Akash has said that his plane is off to India!

This half term the boys have also been engaging in doctor’s surgery role play. They have used their own experiences at the doctors to help them represent ideas. Zachary had broken his arm and leg and Liam was listening to his heart and then wrote a prescription.

Reception have really proved that they are collaborators and creative thinkers.
