We reflected in assembly today on what makes us happy, especially when most of the news provided by the media focuses on the negative aspects of life. Whilst I agree we shouldn’t close our eyes to some of the sad events in the world today, isn’t it nice to have some good news such as the recent Olympics and Paralympics.
When asked in assembly, it was the simple things that seemed to make us happy; football, food (including “Super Noodles”!), helping people, pogo sticks, ice cream, rugby, cricket and a hug! These were just some of the suggestions the boys made to me this morning.
How reassuring that our children are so optimistic. I hope that we can successfully encourage all our boys to carry that optimism with them as they grow older.
