24th June 2016 | Headmaster's Blog
Friday 24th June will be a landmark day in the lives of all our children.
As I stood on door duty this morning, the number of children that wanted to discuss the result of the EU referendum was incredible.
In their own ways they described their feelings of disappointment or pleasure, depending on their point of view.
Part of the boys' education at Elmhurst is to develop their critical thinking and to have an opinion. It is not for us to tell them 'what' to think, but 'how' to think.
So what should I say in assembly?
I decided to compare the referendum result to that of an exam. Once we complete the paper, we have no control over the result, we have tried our best and we now have to move on from the result, to recognise that life goes on.
All our children have endless opportunities ahead of them and that is an exciting prospect.
