How do we ‘Build on Success’?

Today I reflect on the ‘building on success’ strand of our School Development Plan, looking at where we were to where we are now. Here at Elmhurst, we are committed to providing a variety of opportunities and ensuring that the learning experience is the best it can be for each and every pupil. We are proud of our wide-ranging learning initiatives and our thematic curriculum which enable this to happen.

The Elmhurst All Rounder continues to go from strength to strength. The response from both the boys and their families has been amazing so far, and it is truly wonderful to see so many of our children building on the skills of citizenship, communication and collaboration to work towards being an Elmhurst All Rounder. This half term we turn our attention to being Super Critical Thinkers, using our higher order thinking skills to make sense of the world around us.

In addition to the excellent pastoral care we provide at Elmhurst, we are also very proud of our academic and sporting successes, and these continue to be performed to a very high standard. This week alone, our U11 football team won 8-0 and 9-2, our hockey team won both of their matches and our netball team even made it into the Croydon School’s Final! Academically, we also continue to perform at a very high level. Well done to all of our Year 6 boys, who are now at the end of a tiring secondary school entry exam process. All of our boys did themselves proud and many of them are delighted to have found out which secondary schools they will be attending next year - I am sure all of the boys in Year 6 will continue to build on their successes in the years to come!

Finally, I would like to finish by taking this opportunity to thank all of our parents who participated in this year’s parent survey. We had a fantastic response and the feedback we received helps us to understand which areas of the school you are pleased with, and also how we can continue to drive the school forwards.
