ISA Head Teachers Conference.

Elmhurst School for Boys

20th May 2013 | Heads Blog

I had the opportunity to attend the ISA Head Teachers Conference last week and it proved to be a very stimulating and encouraging event.

The issues facing primary schools are becoming more and more complex, especially with the increasing competition for Secondary School places within selected schools.  The fear is, amongst some practitioners, that children become well versed in how to pass an exam at the expense of their all-round education.

What was encouraging, however, was some of the innovative methods of education the schools are using to stimulate their pupils from the use of Philosophy through to the use of increasingly sophisticated Computer equipment.  Schools are looking for new ideas as to how they can engage their children and help them meet their potential; I am delighted to say a lot of people were very interested in our ‘Forest School’ initiative as one way of meeting this objective.

It was equally encouraging to see despite many changes how optimistic school leaders are for the ability of future school children to adapt.  If you have a moment please take a look at this “Digital Native” clip………
