In Little Elms we have moved on from our under water adventure to Africa. We visited the jungle last week and are now exploring The Savannah.
We are reading the book Handa’s Surprise. In the story, Handa takes seven different fruits to her friend in a nearby village. As she travels along some very ‘cheeky’ animals eat all her fruit. With the help of a goat, Handa’s basket gets filled back up with Tangerines, much to Handa’s Surprise.
In our cooking session we sampled some of the fruits from the book, including avocado, mango, tangerine, passion fruit and pineapple. The boys really enjoyed the variety of flavours, but the sweet mango won out as the favourite in the end.
Next week we are off to Antarctica. Thank you to all the parents who have brought in their empty milk cartons. Igloo making will begin soon.
