Little Elms Blog: Our First Term in Little Elms

What a wonderful first term Little Elm's have had. We have been looking at ourselves during the first half, where the children enjoyed thinking about similarities, differences and their families. We shared baby photos with our friends and our teachers, playing guessing games to see if we knew who the photo belongs to. We said goodbye to Mrs Dale who went to support Year 1, and we said a welcome to Mrs King who has continued with us on our learning journey.
The second half of our term was met with wonder and awe as we have had lots of exciting things happening. During our forest school outings, we have been learning about the world around us, building nests for the birds and building dens with rope and material. We also must not forget the yummy hot chocolate to help warm us up in these cold days. We explored colour and shape and began to use challenges as a way of receiving stickers. The children enjoyed being set and completing challenges with support and without. The boys tried so hard and were so proud when they received their stickers. I wonder what new challenges will be set next term?
When we looked at shape and colour we used different shapes to create rockets shooting off to the sky, and used our hands to mix different coloured paint to see what would happen. The results were so beautiful we hung them proudly in our room!
Finally, Christmas is on its way and we have been taking part in lots of activities. We joined with the lower school for a Christmas play where Little Elms dressed up like the nativity scene. They sang songs and independently sang twinkle-twinkle, Miss Paris and Mrs King were so proud! We then had a party where a conga had started and Little Elm's loved joining in, some cool dance moves were witnessed!! Panto morning also saw lots of laughs from the boys, especially when they saw Miss Paris take part (she had to dance!)
We are looking forward to the new term to start where we will be exploring habitats and the lifestyles of lots of different animals. (That's after we have had our lovely rest from school of course!)
