3rd February 2017 | Early Years
We have continued ‘Exploring Our World’ by travelling ‘Under the Sea.’ As always, the boys have enjoyed a variety of activities, in order to stimulate their minds and create new vocabulary. I believe if you ask them, two activities will stand out as their favourites. First, our role play area was set up as a Fish and Chip shop. In order to create that new vocabulary we went on a trip to a real Fish and Chip Shop with Year 6. The boys had a wonderful time walking down to South Croydon high street and ordering their chips. We then walked back and had a ‘Chipnic’ with our Year 6 buddies. Everyone had fun and they even managed to save Mrs Jay and I a chip or two!
The other activity that really stimulated their interest was doing observational drawings of a Mackerel. I bought a fresh mackerel and the boys had the opportunity to explore it and then draw a detailed picture of the fish. The drawings were amazing but the knowledge gained through exploration will stay with them for a long time.
