19th May 2017 | Early Years
On 4th and 5th of May, Elmhurst School presented a Maths Challenge for all pupils and visiting schools. Little Elms were invited to participate in the Puzzle Challenge, alongside our Reception boys. The boys had to work together to solve a number of different puzzles. The puzzles ranged from a fishing game as a warm up, to a puzzle where the boys had to look at a picture, select the correct shapes and arrange them accordingly. The boys had a wonderful time and remained focused on their problem solving tasks for the full 45 minute session.
As a result of the boys enthusiasm for the puzzle challenge, we had another one today during our STEM afternoon, with some help from our Head of Maths, who lent us some fun but challenging puzzles. We set out a different challenge on each table, carpet area and the computer. The boys worked together in pairs and traveled around from activity to activity. I’m not sure which one they enjoyed the most but you can see by their expressions, that they are concentrating and focused. Well done boys!
