Merry Christmas

Elmhurst School for Boys

18th December 2014 | Heads Blog

Christmas always provides a time for reflection and this year is no different, when we reflect on recent tragic events around the World. It underlines how important the qualities we value at Elmhurst are.  I believe that Elmhurst is a unique school.  We have a family of parents, boys and staff who help and support each other in so many ways.  This term is no exception, something that makes me very proud.

The boys have been as active as ever.  Visits from the police, fire service and road safety officers have given the children insights into these vital services. The music this term has been exceptional.  The Junior Choir singing Christmas Carols for the Marie Cure Cancer Fund at the Whitgift Centre, the Senior Choir singing with Whitgift School at the Fairfield Halls were two highlights.  The boys are already looking forward to appearing at the Royal Festival Hall next term.

Sport, as ever, has seen our boys very active.  Several inter school swimming galas. Our footballers in most year groups playing inter school matches. Our U9’s winning the Caterham School Tournament is a particular highlight.  I can’t believe our winter cricket nets start again at the beginning of the Spring Term.

Our Year 6 boys are nearly at the end of the 11+ exams.  I wish them all the very best for the New Year when they will be involved in the Independent School Exams.

I would just like to thank all the boys, parents and staff who help make Elmhurst such a special school.  I hope that you all have a peaceful and restful Christmas break and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
