Achieving outstanding 11+ results is not something a school can construct overnight. It requires deep experience of refined pedagogical expertise, familiarity with selective entrance criteria, and an established culture of academic ambition. At Elmhurst, our long-standing heritage of 11+ success speaks for itself.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils’ achievements. Last year, 100% of our Year 6 pupils secured a place at their first-choice senior school. Our pupils consistently earn prestigious academic and all-rounder scholarships to leading independent schools such as Trinity, Whitgift, and Dulwich College, alongside sought-after places at local grammar schools.
Academic Rigour Beyond National Expectations
Our highly evolved academic provision sits within our Elmhurst EDGE programme. It is structured to ensure pupils routinely perform well above national curriculum age-expected standards. Daily targeted teaching in Maths and English by specialist teachers is combined with dedicated Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning lessons. Our curriculum focuses on building deep conceptual understanding and advanced problem-solving, allowing pupils to tackle complex exam questions with assurance.
A Precision Approach to Exam Preparation
We leave nothing to chance when preparing children for the most competitive senior school entrance examinations. Our structured academic preparation is renowned and evidenced through outstanding results.
Holistic Support: The Elmhurst EDGE
While academic rigour drives our exam results, senior school admissions panels look for articulate, well-rounded individuals. Through the wider Elmhurst EDGE programme, our embedded focus on oracy, public speaking, and structured mock interviews ensures our pupils express their ideas eloquently and present themselves with confidence.
Combined with character education that fosters resilience and determination, our children enter exam season fully prepared. Look out for our upcoming pastoral blogs, where we will explore our oracy and character programmes in greater depth.
