This week, Year 3 visited Shoreham Lifeboat station to learn about the RNLI. The two guides, Keith and Michael, were very knowledgeable and explained about the different boats. Year 3 found out that the crew only have ninety seconds to change into their safety clothes when they are going out on a ‘shout’- hopefully that might make them quicker when changing for swimming!
After lunch they said goodbye and headed further along the coast, where they explored the high tide line and stone breakwaters. They were amazed by how quickly the tide moves and how strong the waves can be. All of this excitement supports their work in English, Science and Geography this term, learning about Light, Coasts and The Mousehole Cat.
