At Elmhurst, an important part of the curriculum is enriching our pupils’ learning experiences. We began this term by bringing to life the classic novel ‘Great Expectations’.
To start the new term, Year 5 wrapped up warmly for a visit to St Peter’s churchyard for a site specific reading of the first chapter of Great Expectations. We tried to imagine Pip visiting his parents’ graves on Christmas Eve and being frightened when a convict suddenly jumped out and demanded food and a file.
The pupils then wrote short descriptive passages of their own.
