A fantastic day was had by all at the U11 ISA National finals at the London Olympic Park last week.
The morning session was composed of the group stages where the boys finished top of the group beating Rosemead, Chafn Grove, Thorpe Hall and drawing against Crickkade Manor. This meant that Elmhurst played in the top knockout group during the afternoon.
The semi final was played against Ipswich High School where we had most of the play but failed to score the all important goal. Penalty shuttle runs followed and unfortunately we lost 3-1 during a very tense affair. The third and fourth play off match was against Lingfield School which was one of the most exciting games of the afternoon. After leading 1-0 during the early stages, Linfield scored two quick goals in succession and followed up with a fantastic third goal which was hit hard from the top of the D.
Even though the Elmhurst boys were inevitably disappointed, at the end of the day they could hold their heads up high finishing fourth overall in the National competition. This is the highest finish Elmhurst has ever achieved. Well done to all and a huge thank you to all the parents who came to support such an exciting day’s event.
