In recent years, in response to parent demand and clear emotional and educational benefits, we have added a Pre-Reception class to the Elmhurst School for Boys journey and boys are now able to join us from 3 years old.
From their arrival at Little Elms, our young pupils are given the opportunity to learn routines and behaviours that will support and enhance their learning journey. Mrs King and her team are experienced nursery leaders who understand how to support the boys emotionally and educationally, ensuring they are well prepared for life at Elmhurst.
The curriculum is well structured and families are fully involved in their child’s learning from the moment they join the school. As well as joining in with whole school assemblies, lunch and playtimes, our Little Elms spend time through the week with the specialist subject teachers. This gets them used to the rhythm of the school day from early on.
A trip to Forest School is a highlight for many of our youngest learners with all boys in the school spending half a day per week at Forest School throughout the year. Hot Chocolate is enjoyed, fires are made and adventures are had with their friends in an environment that encourages respect for the outdoors and guided risk taking.
Year round provision
We are delighted to now be able to offer year round provision for boys in our Nursery, something many of our families are grateful for. Whilst the term time provision fits into the school routines, in our out of school weeks, boys continue their learning journey in the familiar school surroundings with Holiday Club children joining in with some of their activities.
Meals are provided at lunch and tea time for Little Elms year round pupils, with a vegetarian offer and halal meat both on offer.
Term time only
For families ready for the school year, we do offer the option of term time only nursery care. Details of the fee structure for those pupils, and the options for extended day care periodically, can be found on our fees pages.
